Logo: Feedburner R-pM is a Gradual Transition

Some, who have contacted us, have raised concerns about possible obstacles to the transition to 21st Century Management with Result-performance Management (R-pM). Most concerns relate more to resistance to change, which is addressed in other posts. In this post, we address the means of making the transition to R-pM.

Features of R-pM and Information Technology assist the transition

R-pM will always be under continuing development. We have already made a very large investment in developing and documenting R-pM, and initial solutions. Even more new development is needed for integrated R-pM solutions and the full learning and consulting services.

Development of R-pM support and services and initial utilization of R-pM to meet business needs can proceed in parallel. Several features of R-pM facilitate the immediate utilization and the transition to full R-pM:

  • R-pM is and has been used as an application, particularly for capital development projects, which we recommend as the first application of R-pM. R-pM enables successful analysis of investments and management of project benefits not supported by conventional methods. No one should initiate a capital development or business change project without considering R-pM
  • R-pM is the only theoretically sound method to organize and manage the enterprise business, which conventional overlaid structures do not do, and eventually all enterprises will use R-pM for business organization and management
  • R-pm can be used to organize and manage new enterprises using existing information systems by consistently defining system entities through managed results and performance solutions
  • R-pM takes advantage of information technology, first to simplify the business and information entities, and then to maintain the business organization and management structure
  • Many of the entities used in current information systems can be redefined in terms of results and performance solutions to aid simplification and prepare the transition
  • A prototype Result-performance Management System has been developed and is being refined, which integrates the complete business into one structure with the minimum number of entities to manage, and is open for licensing by commercial software firms
  • R-pM can also be used first as a conceptual management approach to simplify the existing business and as an application for creating value-quality chains etc. with existing solutions
  • Deliberate R-pM implementation can be done in long term phases to let solutions catch up, starting with strategic planning for the strategic business structure and gradually build and implement the current business structure
  • The business is organized and then implemented to work along side conventional methods
  • The transition to R-pM is gradual, so that no conventional method is removed before it is fully replaced by R-pM

Result-performance Management is a product of over four years of continuous development and validation to ensure that the concepts and structures are supported in detail before releasing R-pM for utilization and transition.

21st Century Management Transition is supported by the R-pM Toolkit

The transition to R-pM is laid out in detail in the download document “Smooth R-pM Transition” and R-pM application is supported by application documents for business change, value chains, etc. All these documents are included now in the R-pM Toolkit. Additional material to support the transition to R-pM is developed and will be added to the R-pM Toolkit. R-pM Toolkit users involved in and planning the transition to R-pM are in the lead, and will maintain the lead as R-pM development and use is accelerated.
