Logo: Feedburner Solution implementation as the objective of our development projects

The objective of most business change projects is information system and other solution implementation

Most of our businesses change projects concentrate on solution implementation. This may be for an enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, or other information system. It may be strategic planning, organization structure, performance management, productivity improvement, or other proscribed solution. This means getting the solution in operation for selected areas of the enterprise. Most solution implementation converts the existing business to the new solution, which increases costs while providing marginal benefit.

It is difficult to plan and measure sucessful implementation and the return on solution implementation investments

How do we know when a solution is implemented or if solution implementation is successful? Why do users resist many of the solutions we implement? Are solutions ever fully implemented or do exceptions, advanced functions, or hard-to-reach areas go unimplemented?

Corporate business problems are often solved by implementing a proscribed system or solution

Whenever business problems arise, the enterprise should stop and think and analyze the problem and come up with a specific solution. But, most people do not want to think. And, analyzing is for someone else to do. The easy way out is to implement a proscribed solution that they hope will solve the problem. What happens in your enterprise, when business problems arise? Is it the knee jerk reaction to implement a system or a method?

This create a bigger problem, implement the system or solution, that overshadows the original business problems

Immediately the original problem has been replaced by a much bigger problem and certainly a much more expensive solution. The implementation objective allows the enterprise to avoid the thinking required to solve problems and gain benefit. The original problem is often lost in the shuffle as effort is redirected to solution implementation. Even when the solution is implemented, the user with the original problem may resist the solution that is no longer directed at his problem.

Result-performance Management (R-pM) enables the enterprise and consultants to directly solve specific business problems

Now, there is Result-performance Management (R-pM). R-pM employs one integrated method to organize and manage the business. The R-pM consulting model enables R-pM consultants to provide professional services in partnership with the enterprise for result value-added success. R-pM identifies the new results needed and existing results that need improvement. R-pM directly solves business problems for a planned and managed return. R-pM does not implement proscribed solutions in the hit or miss attempts to solve business problems.

Learn the Basics of R-pM from articles under that category, or join the R-pM community to download information on using R-pM to manage business change.

Solution implementation has always been the objective in systems that I have been involved with. I think it will be a big change to get people thinking differently.
